Transfyr has raised a 25 million dollar seed round to build what it calls a physical AI platform, aimed at automating hands-on scientific work in the lab. Rather than applying AI to text or images, the company is targeting the messy, physical side of research: running experiments and complex scientific workflows in the real world. So-called physical AI, where models drive robots and instruments rather than just generate content, is an emerging frontier, and wet-lab science is a natural early target.
