# Waymo Criticizes Tesla's End-to-End AI Approach as Unsafe

> Days before Tesla shows off its steering-wheel-free Cybercab, Waymo has gone unusually public with a critique of how its rival builds self-driving software. Waymo's argument centers on Tesla's reliance on a single end-to-end neural network fed only by cameras, a design that turns the whole driving task into one large model. Waymo's driving-software lead says cameras alone are not enough, and that a monolithic network can fail in ways nobody can inspect or recover from, which is a serious problem when the black box is steering a moving car.
